Good Things Going on at Mayfield!

Dear Mayfield Community and Families,

Welcome back, Mayfield Intermediate School! We are so excited for the start of the new school year, and we look forward to helping every student display their Bobcat Best throughout the school year. As we complete our first 5-day week of school, we notice how our students have seamlessly transitioned into their new classes, and high-quality instruction is taking place in all our classrooms. Students are engaged in lessons that incorporate cooperative structures and focus on students engaging in collaborative conversations with their classmates.

Thanks!

Safety Drills

Our school is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. To ensure we are prepared for various emergencies, we conduct several safety drills throughout the school year. These drills are practiced with both students and staff to help everyone understand the proper procedures and to ensure a calm and orderly response in a real situation. The drills we practice include: fire drills, which prepare students to evacuate the building quickly and safely; lockdown drills, which train students and staff on how to secure a classroom in the event of an intruder; tornado drills, which teach students to take shelter in designated safe areas; earthquake drills, which instruct students to "drop, cover, and hold on"; and bus evacuation drills, which prepare students for an emergency exit from a school bus. The practice of these drills is an essential part of our comprehensive safety plan and helps to foster a culture of preparedness and resilience within our school community.

After School Clubs and Activities

Get ready to explore new interests and make new friends! Our school is thrilled to announce the start of our after-school clubs and activities for the new school year. This is a great opportunity for students to dive deeper into their passions, discover new hobbies, and connect with peers who share their interests.

We have a wide range of offerings this year, designed to cater to a variety of interests, including arts, academics, sports, and community service.

The first club being offered this year will be our Robotics Club.

Robotics Club Applications Starting 8/25/25

Here is a message from Ms. Torres Gonzalez, our Robotics Coach.

Iโ€™m excited to kick off another season as the Robotics Head Coach! ๐ŸŽ‰ There are a few important things to know about the application process:

๐Ÿ“„ Application Options: Students can complete the application digitally or on paper.

  • The digital version is preferred.

๐Ÿ’ป How to Access:

  • The application button is posted in every STEM Schoology course (thank you, Mr. Brungard!).

  • Students will see the button today and tomorrow, but it will not go live until Monday.

  • ๐Ÿ“ Student Responsibility:

    • Students should complete the application on their own.

    • They must carefully read all instructions and details. Following directions is an important skill for being on the robotics team!

  • โฐ Deadlines:

    • Applications close on Wednesday, September 10.

    • Students will know by Friday, September 12 if theyโ€™re invited to tryouts.

  • ๐Ÿค– Next Steps:

    • If selected, students will receive a letter inviting them to tryouts

Thank you for encouraging your students to be part of Mayfield Robotics. I canโ€™t wait to see the talent and creativity they bring this year!
