A Message from the Mayfield Administration Team

Dear Mayfield Community and Families,

Today, we celebrated our January and February Students of the Month. Sixty-four students were recognized for excelling inside and outside the classroom throughout the past two months. The Student of the Month celebrations are always special because they unite our community to celebrate our successes. We invited families to attend, and the teachers provided a nice narrative about why each student was selected.

Spring Sports at Metz Start March 24

The Spring sports season at Metz is quickly approaching. Sixth-grade students can try out for Softball, baseball, boys track, or girls soccer. Tryouts last three days, and teams will be selected after the three-day tryout. To participate in school sports, students must have an up-to-date sports physical on file with the school. Students who played a sport earlier in the year are already cleared. The sports physical had to be completed after July 2024 to be valid for the spring season.

Mayfield is Looking for Career Day Presenters

Dear Mayfield Family and Community Members,                                      February 2025

Mayfield Intermediate School will hold a Career Day for our students on Friday, April 11th. Career Day is a fun-filled day during which students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of careers. They will also meet members of our community and engage in activities designed to increase their awareness of the world of work.

We currently need community members willing to share their careers with us. Our career day will resemble a college fair, and all of our speakers will have their own booths used to showcase their careers and talents. We ask that you arrive by 11:15 am so we can set up. The fair will begin at 11:30 am and conclude at 1:45 pm. Guest speakers will talk to students about what they do at work, what they like about their jobs, what type of training/education is needed, and how basic skills/subjects the children are learning can help them in this job. Please bring handouts, props, and visual aids (stickers, trinkets, business cards, magnets, etc.).  In return, you will receive many smiles and priceless questions. Lunch will also be provided.

We hope that you will consider participating in our Career Day activity. If you are available, please fill out the following link: https://tinyurl.com/Mayfield25

The link can also be found on Mayfield’s homepage. Please RSVP no later than March 17th. Questions can be emailed to Jill LaScola at jlascola@mcpsva.org  or call 571-377-6756. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. We hope that you can join us for this special event!

Sincerely,

The Mayfield Counseling Team
