The Mayfield Messenger

Edition #10

February 6, 2026

A Message from your School Administrators

It has been wonderful welcoming our students and staff back to school after last week’s weather-related closure. Thank you to our families and students for your flexibility and commitment during a week of adjusted schedules. Even with two-hour delays, our students showed up ready to learn, and that says so much about the resilience and dedication of our school community.

We are looking forward to returning to our regular start times next week as conditions continue to improve and we finish digging out from the remaining snow and ice. A huge thank-you goes to our custodial staff for their incredible hard work over the past two weeks. Their efforts to keep sidewalks, crosswalks, and parking lots clear and safe have been essential in ensuring a smooth and safe return for students and staff.

This week also marks National School Counseling Week, and we are incredibly fortunate to have four outstanding school counselors who support our students every day. Their dedication to students’ academic success, social-emotional well-being, and overall growth makes a meaningful difference in our school. Please join me in thanking them for the important work they do.

As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are excited to settle back into our routines and continue moving forward together.

Dr. Frischkorn, Principal

Mrs. Milhoan, 6th Grade Assistant Principal

Mr. Moore, 5th Grade Assistant Principal

Celebrating Black History Month at Mayfield Intermediate School

At Mayfield, we proudly celebrate Black History Month by bringing our school community together for our annual, school-wide assembly. This special event provides students with the opportunity to learn about Black history, culture, and contributions through the voices and talents of individuals from within our school and our broader community.

Our assembly weaves together history, storytelling, singing, and dancing to create an engaging and meaningful experience for our students. By highlighting the past and present contributions of Black leaders, artists, and changemakers, we aim to deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of Black history while fostering unity and pride across our school community.

This year’s celebration is titled “The MIS Gala,” a showcase that reflects the excellence, creativity, and resilience celebrated throughout Black history. We are excited to honor this important month through learning, reflection, and celebration together as one Mayfield community.

We’re excited to help you get started. Below you’ll find an overview of the main areas of your Schoology account. This guide will help you navigate the platform with ease. For more detailed instructions on specific features, please visit the Schoology Learning website

What is Schoology?

Schoology is an online learning platform that teachers use to:

♦Share classroom materials and resources.

♦Provide a safe space for students to discuss ideas and collaborate on projects.

♦Assign and collect homework electronically.

♦Schoology helps students stay organized and connected with their class.

Why Create a Parent Account?

A Schoology Parent Account allows you to:

♦View the classes your child is enrolled in.

♦See upcoming assignments and due dates.

♦Stay informed with school and class announcements.

♦Schoology makes it easy for parents to stay engaged and support their child’s learning journey.

Setting Up Your Account

When you create a Parent account in Schoology, you’ll actually have access to two views:

Your Personal Account – This includes your own name and information.

Child Activity View – This allows you to see Schoology from your child’s perspective, view their courses, and receive updates about their activity.

The first time you log in, we recommend reviewing and adjusting your account settings to ensure you get the most out of Schoology. To create your account, please have your Access Code ready. This is a 12-digit code (formatted like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) provided by your child’s teacher or school. Click this "Link" and follow the instructions in the attached document for "HowTo."
