A Message from the Mayfield Administration Team

Dear Mayfield Community and Families,

Today, we reviewed our current attendance rate for Mayfield Intermediate School, and we are excited to announce that we have had the lowest number of chronically absent students since 2019! That is incredible news and worth celebrating and noting, but we all know there is more work to ensure that every child comes to school every day and is ready to learn. The current Chronic Absenteeism rate is 14.16%. Our goal as a school is to have the absenteeism rate under 15% for the year.

To achieve this goal, we must all work together. Parents and guardians, keep working with your children at home and ensure they come to school daily. Teachers will continue to create welcoming classroom learning environments while challenging your child to achieve academic success by accessing grade-level and above instructional materials. We have several other staff members here at school who are willing to help and support students and families to ensure that the students attend school.

Thanks!

Attention 6th Grade Families:

Rising 7th grade Vaccine Clinic

There will be a School Located Vaccine Clinic at Mayfield Intermediate School on April 10th, 2025.  In order to start 7th grade, your student will need to have had the Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap), and Meningococcal Conjugate (MenACWY) vaccine after the age of 11. The HPV (HumanPapilomavirus) vaccine is also recommended.   A school located vaccine clinic means your student can be vaccinated at school during the school day.  If your student needs these vaccines, they will bring home a consent form, which needs to be completed and returned to the school nurse.  Contact the school clinic with any questions. 571-377-6612.

Again, to start the 7th grade school year on time,, students will need to have the Tdap and Meningococcal conjugate vaccines. This is your opportunity to sign up to get it done early and be ready for the start of Middle School.

Girls on the Run Club Accepting Applications

The purpose of the girls on the run club is to offer fitness and wellness opportunities to students through running, yoga, and pilates. The club will be split into parts, where students can participate in activities at their own pace and comfort. This is a physical activity club with the expectation that students will participate in various physical activities.

Students can pick up permission forms from the grade level offices or Ms. LaScola.

Mayfield is Looking for Career Day Presenters

Dear Mayfield Family and Community Members,

Mayfield Intermediate School will hold a Career Day for our students on Friday, April 11th. Career Day is a fun-filled day during which students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of careers. They will also meet members of our community and engage in activities designed to increase their awareness of the world of work.

We currently need community members willing to share their careers with us. Our career day will resemble a college fair, and all of our speakers will have their own booths used to showcase their careers and talents. We ask that you arrive by 11:15 am so we can set up. The fair will begin at 11:30 am and conclude at 1:45 pm. Guest speakers will talk to students about what they do at work, what they like about their jobs, what type of training/education is needed, and how basic skills/subjects the children are learning can help them in this job. Please bring handouts, props, and visual aids (stickers, trinkets, business cards, magnets, etc.).  In return, you will receive many smiles and priceless questions. Lunch will also be provided.

We hope that you will consider participating in our Career Day activity. If you are available, please fill out the following link: https://tinyurl.com/Mayfield25

The link can also be found on Mayfield’s homepage. Please RSVP no later than March 17th. Questions can be emailed to Jill LaScola at jlascola@mcpsva.org  or call 571-377-6756. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. We hope that you can join us for this special event!

Sincerely,
