A Message from Dr. Frischkorn

October 18th marks the conclusion of the first quarter of the school year. Our students have done a terrific job acclimating to the new school year and have seen tremendous academic gains. Here is a brief rundown of some of the standout Mayfield Moments during the first quarter:

  • Celebrated Hispanic Heritage and hosted our Back-to-School Night

  • Recognized 68 students for being selected as Students of the Month for August and September

  • We started our Bobcat Block to support students in building foundational literacy skills, increasing their number sense, exploring the fine arts more deeply, or challenging and expanding their math understanding.

  • Our PBIS committee hosted two after-school socials with the Tailgate Party and the Fall Festival, where a combined total of 500+ students could attend.

  • Our Language Arts Teachers adopted a new High-Quality Instructional resource, Benchmark Advanced, that has increased our students' academic rigor and grade-level expectations.

  • The students have improved our Chronic Absenteeism rate for the first quarter of the school year compared to the last school year.

  • Our staff has provided various clubs, including the Re

ading Club, Jewelry Club, 6th Grade Basketball, K-Pop Club, and Robotics Club.

We look forward to the next quarter of the school year as we continue to dig deeper into the curriculum and challenge our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

We would like to thank all our families who have supported the students so far this school year, and we look forward to continuing to work with them each year as we build an even better learning environment for our students here at Mayfield Intermediate School.
