A Message from the Mayfield Administration Team

Dear Mayfield Community and Families,

Today was another special Mayfield Moment as we hosted our Annual Black History Month Celebration. We would like to thank Mrs. Porter for leading the assembly's planning. Additionally, we would like to thank Mr. Souza, our band director, for organizing a very special musical performance highlighting many African Americans' voices and their contributions to the evolution of music. Our students learned about the history of fashion, sports, and more as several community members came to support our assembly by sharing their talents.

National Social Worker Week

Social Worker Week

Thank you to our exceptional social worker, Ms. Al-Akhras. She serves the Mayfield Intermediate School, Baldwin Intermediate School, and Baldwin Elementary School communities. She is an excellent resource for any student and can assist students and their families so that they are ready to learn every day that they are at school.

Upcoming 5th Grade Field Trip to Hylton Performing Arts Center

The Manassas Ballet Theatre (MBT) invites schools to visit the Hylton Performing Arts Center to view their upcoming performances. The MBT performs a few scenes from the play and then takes time to answer our students' questions regarding the performance or ballet.

Here is a quick synopsis of the upcoming ballet that our students will get the opportunity to watch. Join MBT for the premiere performance of a new ballet- Love. Set to original music composed by fan favorite Kim Reynolds, performed live by The Kim Reynolds Band, MBT’s dancers will fill the stage with choreography that will excite your senses. The ballet consists of multiple vignettes, each representing a different aspect of the complex thing that is Love. You will not want to miss this exciting new work that heralds the coming of Spring.

Mayfield is Looking for Career Day Presenters

Dear Mayfield Family and Community Members,                                      February 2025

Mayfield Intermediate School will hold a Career Day for our students on Friday, April 11th. Career Day is a fun-filled day during which students will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of careers. They will also meet members of our community and engage in activities designed to increase their awareness of the world of work.

We currently need community members willing to share their careers with us. Our career day will resemble a college fair, and all of our speakers will have their own booths used to showcase their careers and talents. We ask that you arrive by 11:15 am so we can set up. The fair will begin at 11:30 am and conclude at 1:45 pm. Guest speakers will talk to students about what they do at work, what they like about their jobs, what type of training/education is needed, and how basic skills/subjects the children are learning can help them in this job. Please bring handouts, props, and visual aids (stickers, trinkets, business cards, magnets, etc.).  In return, you will receive many smiles and priceless questions. Lunch will also be provided.

We hope that you will consider participating in our Career Day activity. If you are available, please fill out the following link: https://tinyurl.com/Mayfield25

The link can also be found on Mayfield’s homepage. Please RSVP no later than March 17th. Questions can be emailed to Jill LaScola at jlascola@mcpsva.org  or call 571-377-6756. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. We hope that you can join us for this special event!

Sincerely,

The Mayfield Counseling Team
