At Metz, we SHOW RESPECT, we ARE DETERMINED, we SEEK EXCELLENCE, and we SHOW WHAT WE KNOW!
The mission of Grace E. Metz Middle School is to empower life-long learners by inspiring students to grow in confidence, self-awareness, and to become contributing members of our community.
Dear Metz Families,
We had an outstanding second week of school! Our Metz cheerleaders and mascot were showcased on the Fox 5 Zip Trip in Manassas City last Friday, wrapping up the week with a bang. Our becoming scholars spent the first two weeks acclimating to school procedures and expectations and modeling expected behaviors. We continue to discuss the Student Code of Conduct and recognize students displaying positive character and choices.
Students are now fully engaged in learning and are doing a great job getting to class on time. We emphasize the importance of timeliness to make the most of instructional time. After two full weeks of school and giving students ample time and opportunity to practice getting to class on time, we will implement our first Tardy Sweep on Monday. Any student found in the hallway when the bell rings will be marked tardy and required to stay after school for a lesson on the significance of punctuality in school and life led by administrators. We will use collaborative structures to promote problem-solving and communication. Please discuss with your child the importance of meeting school expectations and being punctual. Students know the Tardy Sweep will take place on Monday, as this has been announced and discussed with them.
Arrival - Car Riders: We appreciate your patience as we work to streamline arrival procedures for car riders. We are collaborating closely with our SRO and crossing guard to optimize traffic flow and ensure a safe and efficient emptying of our parking lot. We aim to establish a more consistent routine in the coming week.
Attendance to School: School attendance is crucial! Let us know how we can help your child get to school on time each day. The data clearly illustrates the impact of school absences on high school student success. Please monitor your child's attendance to stay informed about their arrival time and daily presence at school.
Fundraiser: Please check your child's backpack and ask about our Metz Chocolate Fundraiser. Students will come home with more information on Monday, August 26th. All profits will go directly to support our students and school.
I am grateful for your engagement, feedback, and unwavering support of Metz Middle School. Together, we are better!
"Every student, Every day, Whatever it takes!"

To keep our focus where it belongs—on learning—cell phones and earbuds must be stored in backpacks during school hours. Let’s work together to create an environment free of distractions!
Attendance to school is imperative to your child's success. Help your child attend school everyday. Our Mustangs need to arrive to school on-time, ready to soar! Encourage your child to join meaningful after-school activities, including sports and clubs. Help them feel connected to school.
e-Hall Pass is an innovative tool that our students will use when they leave the classroom. This system helps our administrative and security teams monitor all hall passes in real time, ensuring we’re providing the best supervision possible, as safety is a top priority.
